Storyboard - P1(c)

Storyboard is very useful when we are going to shoot a video. It will help us to understand what exactly we will have to shoot. When we start editing, we will be able to put scenes in the right order.

My storyboard shows the shots which are necessary in my film opening. I've written some notes underneath every shot, where I've described what's going on and mentioned the name of the shots.

The camera's positions:

Shot 1: camera will move up from the ground to the sky

Shot 2: camera will move down from the sky to the field where boys are playing football

Shot 3: camera will be close to the ground to make a framing shot of Nick's legs

Shot 4: camera will be in front of the girls who are supporting Nick. Then there will be close up of some girls (reaction shot)

Shot 5: camera will be opposite to Nick to make a medium close-up of him

Shot 6: camera will be also in front of his girlfriend, close up of her face to show the emotions on her face

Shot 7: camera will be opposite and on the side to Nick

Shot 8: camera is in front of the couple

Shot 9: camera moves from the right side to the left

Shot 10: camera will be in distance in order to make an establishing shot

Shot 11: camera will be in front of the guys

Shot 12: camera is behind the back of Ekaterina to make a following shot of how she is coming to school

Set Designs - P1(d)

Main entrance of the school. In the first shot the camera will be close to the ground and then it will move up to make a crane shot. In the other shots which will take place in front of the school the camera will be in front of the school. Additional lighting won't be required as some of scenes will be shoot in the day time and there are the lights in front of the school so there will be enough lights for us when we will shoot in the evening.

Football field. Camera will be moving to show the different parts of the field. It will always be on the side of the field to make sure we will be able to show everything what's going on. Scenes on the field will be shoot only in day time, so no extra lighting is required.

Contingency plan:

Some problems might occur during the filming process. In order to be able to cope with them contingency plan is necessary. If some actors won't be able to shoot on particular day, we need to be able to change the day of filming process without serious losses. On Friday and Monday the problems with actors are unlikely to occur, as all of our actors are boarders and are able to take part in the film anytime during the week. On Saturday there might be a problem, if, for example, somebody from our crew will get a detention in the morning and won't be able to take part in the video. In this case we will have two options:

1. to change the time (Saturday 19 October 2013, 12:30 - 13:30)
2. to change the day (Sunday 20 October 2013, 11:30 - 12:30)

If we are able to reorganise the filming process, then we will avoid problems with delays arising with absence of someone we need.

On Friday and Saturday we are going to do a crane shot, which is difficult to do by ourselves, so supervision is required. If the teacher for some reason is not able to help us on Saturday, then we will add one more shoot day or we can do it on Monday after school, when we will just do a crane shot on the field. In this case we will probably go for Monday:

Monday 21 October 2013, 16:30 - 17:00 (Crane shot on the field)

If it's raining on monday, we will add one more shoot day:

Shoot Day 4 - Tuesday 22 October 2013, 16:30 - 17:00

On Friday (18 October) this problem is unlikely to occur, as the teacher is always around the school straight after lessons.
